First ESSENCE Workshop: Exploring the ESSENCE space

The First ESSENCE Workshop on Exploring the ESSENCE space was held this week (28th-30th April, 2014) at the historic Surgeons’ Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland. The event was kicked off with a team building weekend at Firbush, in the Scottish Highlands followed by the Workshop. Senior staff members introduced their area of expertise and the new Fellows gave short presentation on their academic background and research interests. The event concluded with a public lecture by Prof Alan Bundy on the topic of "Can Computers Change their Minds?" at the University of Edinburgh.

We're hiring!

We are currently looking for exceptionally strong candidates to cover two 36-months positions for Early-Stage Reserachers (PhD candidates), all of them starting in September 2014, for the following projects at our participant institutions. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in a highly prestigious European training network for outstanding applicants in an emergent and important research area, led by internationally leading groups in their fields!

All contracted researchers will be expected to travel, participate in network-wide training events, spend extended periods of time abroad with supervisors from other institutions within the network, and during secondments to non-academic and industrial partners.
